Sandeep Nimmagadda, Ph.D, P.E.

 

 

Dr. Sandeep Nimmagadda is currently working as the Director of the Global Laboratory Energy Asset Management & Manufacturing (GLEAMM) project at Texas Tech University, in Lubbock Texas.  TTU’s microgrid facility at Reese Technology Center built for research, testing and certifying innovations utilizing wind, solar, battery storage, weather forecasting, PMU’s, Cyber-security and control systems design.


He previously has worked as an Electrical Engineering Manager at Apex Clean Energy, a renewable energy company in Charlottesville, Virginia. Dr. Nimmagadda completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering at Texas Tech University in August 2014. His research was focused on providing solutions to grid integration issues caused due to large scale integration of wind energy. Dr. Nimmagadda worked with Alstom Power, Inc (currently GE) during his PhD to prevent the turbines from getting negatively impacted due to sub-synchronous control interaction, when connected to a weak grid. Dr. Nimmagadda has five years of experience in the renewables industry working on design of utility scale wind farms, solar farms and battery integration to renewable generation plants. He has managed teams and mentored personnel working on Electrical engineering, SCADA, and interconnection.


Dr. Nimmagadda obtained his Professional engineer license in the State of Texas in 2018. Dr. Nimmagadda has experience in implementing complicated solutions in power plants to improve performance of operating assets. Dr. Nimmagadda is passionate about tech start-ups, renewable energy, microgrids, electric vehicles, water conservation and waste management.

His previous work with Apex Clean Energy, and GE, has afforded him the experience in implementing complicated solutions in power plants to improve performance of operating assets instilling a passion for tech start-ups, renewable energy, microgrids, electric vehicles, water conservation and waste management.
